General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Michael D. Maples for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as director, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C. Maples is currently serving as the vice director, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
