General Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Lt. Gen. Charles C. Campbell for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga. Campbell is currently serving as commanding general, Eighth U.S. Army/chief of staff, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea.

Army Maj. Gen. Gary D. Speer for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany. Speer is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, Third U.S. Army, Fort McPherson, Ga.

Army Maj. Gen. John R. Wood for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Wood is currently serving as the director for joint experimentation, J-9, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

Army Reserve Col. Guy L. Sands-Pingot for promotion to the grade of brigadier general. Sands-Pingot is currently serving as commander, 353rd Civil Affairs Command, Fort Wadsworth, N.Y.
