General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nomination:
Army Lt. Gen. David D. McKiernan for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army/commander, Allied Land Component Command Heidelberg, North Atlantic Treaty Organization/commanding general, U.S. Army, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Germany. McKiernan is currently serving as the deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga.
