Secretary of Defense William J. Perry has announced the
designation of Air Force Brig. Gen. John F. Regni as the Air
Force representative to the Reserve Forces Policy Board,
effective May 21, 1996. Regni currently serves as director for
U.S. Air Force military personnel policy, Washington, D.C.
The 24-member Reserve Forces Policy Board was created by
Congress in 1952. Acting through the assistant secretary of
Defense for reserve affairs, the board serves as the principal
policy advisor to the secretary of Defense on reserve component
matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible for
Reserve Affairs from each of the military departments, and active
and reserve component general and flag officers representing all
Services, including the Coast Guard.
Born at Wiesbaden Air Base, Germany, in 1952, the general
was commissioned in the Air Force following graduation from the
United States Air Force Academy in 1973. His career has
encompassed a wide range of manpower, personnel, training and
command assignments and he has served at base, major command, air
staff and joint staff levels. Prior to his current assignment,
he served as director of personnel, Air Mobility Command, Scott
Air Force Base, Ill.
Regni's decorations include the Defense Superior Service
Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, and
Air Force Commendation Medal.
