FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Vice Admiral Thomas J. Lopez, U.S.
Navy, for appointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as
Commander in Chief, U.S. Naval Forces, Europe and Commander in
Chief, Allied Forces, Southern Europe in Naples, Italy. Vice
Admiral Lopez is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Naval
Operations, Resources, Warfare Requirements and Assessments, N8,
Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon
Vice Admiral Lopez was born January 20, 1940 in Powellton,
West Virginia.
