GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, United
States Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general
and assignment as deputy chief of staff for Operations and Plans,
United States Army, Washington, D.C. Since July 1995, he has
served as the assistant deputy chief of staff for Operations and
Plans, United States Army, Washington, D.C.
Shinseki was born on Nov. 28, 1942, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii.
