DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Armer N. Burkart, 26, of Rockville, Md., died of injuries sustained in Baghdad, Iraq, on May 11, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat  patrol operations.  Burkart was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
