General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Gen. Michael V. Hayden for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as director, Central Intelligence Agency, Langley, Va. Hayden is currently serving as principal deputy director of National Intelligence, Washington, D.C.
