STATEMENT ON THE BOMBING IN DHAHRAN BY SECRETARY OF THE AIR FORCE SHEILA WIDNALL AND THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE AIR FORCE GENERAL RONALD R. FOGLEMAN
We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and
injuries in Saudi Arabia. The bombing was an act of cowardice
that we condemn in the strongest possible way.
To the loved ones of all those affected by this tragedy, we
offer our heartfelt and sincerest sympathy. Our pledge is the
fullest and swiftest cooperation in the investigation of this
incident and the apprehension of those responsible.
The men and women of our Air Force freely accept uncommon
risk in the service of the United States. But that does not
lessen our commitment to their welfare and concern for their
safety. In protecting U.S. interests and promoting and
maintaining peace in remote locations around the world, their
cause is noble. They and their families have and deserve our
fullest support and understanding at this very difficult time.
