Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John F. Sattler for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as the director, Strategic Plans and Policy, Joint Staff. Sattler is currently serving as the commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force and commander, U. S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
