Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen speaks today at 10 a.m. at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. See the press advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington today. There are no media or public events on his schedule.

The Senate Committee on Armed Services is scheduled to begin hearings today at 10 a.m. on the nomination of Donald H. Rumsfeld to be Secretary of Defense. See the committee web site for details.

Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Frank Kramer will brief non-U.S. media on "International Security for the 21st Century" at the Washington Foreign Press Center today at 10:30 a.m. For information, see the center web site or call Rick Machamer at +1 (202) 661-8947.

The regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m., in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.
