Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are in Washington. There are no media or public events on their schedules.

A departure ceremony for Secretary of the Navy Richard Danzig will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters in Washington. See the press advisory for details.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Commandant of the Coast Guard host a luncheon in Arlington, Va., today at 11:45 a.m. to pay tribute to Medal of Honor recipients. See the press advisory for details.

Vice President-elect Richard Cheney salutes America's veterans at a pre-inaugural event today at 2 p.m. in Washington, D.C. See the Inaugural Committee web site (no longer available) for details.

The Air Force will host a farewell ceremony in honor of the Secretary of the Air Force F. Whitten Peters today at 2:30 p.m. at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. See the press advisory for details.

The next regular DoD news briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 1:30 p.m., in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.
