Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are in Washington. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

The regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m., in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The Military and Veterans Health Coordinating Board is holding a research conference on Gulf War illnesses through tomorrow in Alexandria, Va. The theme is "Illnesses among Gulf War Veterans: A Decade of Scientific Research." See the board's Web site for details. [link no longer avaliable]
