Today in the Department of Defense, Friday, Jan. 5, 2001

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Henry H. Shelton will honor President and Mrs. Clinton at a ceremony today at 4 p.m. in Conmy Hall, Fort Myer, Va. See the advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington today. There are no media or public events on his schedule.

The next regular DoD news briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 1:30 p.m., in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.
