Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on the future of national defense and the U.S. military 10 years after Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. EDT in room 2118, Rayburn House Office Building.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta hosts a farewell ceremony for William J. Lynn III, the thirtieth deputy secretary of Defense, in the Pentagon Auditorium BH650 today at 3 p.m. EDT. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, U.S. Army, will join Panetta in the ceremony. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.
