Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz are in Washington. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

The Department of Defense will host a media availability with representatives Jim Saxton, Jim Turner, John McHugh, John Kline, Fred Upton and Amo Houghton, who recently returned from Iraq, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 9:20 a.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781. The event will be hosted by Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs Powell Moore. Media representatives who do not have a Pentagon building pass and wish to cover this event should arrive at the Pentagon's North Parking Entrance at 8:50 a.m. for an escort. Media without a Pentagon building pass must have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification

Three directors from the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Baghdad, will conduct a briefing on their roles in the new Iraqi government on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 3:30 p.m. The briefing will take place in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon, Room 2E781. Media representatives who do not have a Pentagon building pass and wish to cover this event should arrive at the Pentagon's North Parking Entrance at 3:00 p.m. for an escort.
