Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is traveling.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England hosts an honor cordon to welcome Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to the Pentagon today at 3:50 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 3:20 p.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Stephen Jones testifies at a hearing of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs on sharing of electronic medical records between Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs at 10 a.m. EDT in room 334, Cannon House Office Building. 

Director for Operational Planning, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Richard Sherlock, will brief at 1 p.m. EDT, Oct. 24, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
