Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will conduct a news briefing today at 1:30 p.m. EST in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will deliver remarks at the Empower America Freedom Award dinner at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 1615 H Street, NW, Washington, DC. at 6:30 p.m. Press should contact Andrew Porter at 202-452-6223 if planning to attend.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz delivers remarks at the twenty-fourth annual Oscar Iden Lecture at 11:30 a.m. in Gaston Hall, third floor, Healy Hall, Georgetown University, 37th & O Streets, NW, Washington, D.C. Press should contact Kara D’Onofrio at 202-687-4328 if planning to attend.

Wolfowitz also hosts an honor cordon to welcome Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of the United Arab Emirates, to the Pentagon today at 5:45 p.m. EST. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 5:15 p.m. EST for escort to the cordon.

The Department of Defense will host a media availability with representatives Deborah Pryce, Sue Kelly, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Jennifer Dunn, Darlene Hooley, Carolyn McCarthy, Marsha Blackburn, Katherine Harris who recently returned from Iraq at 9:20 a.m. EST in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781. The event will be hosted by Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs Powell Moore. Media representatives who do not have a Pentagon building pass and wish to cover this event should arrive at the Pentagon's North Parking Entrance at 8:50 a.m. for an escort.
