Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England have no public or media events on their schedules.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Navy Adm. Mike Mullen will deliver remarks at the funeral for Adm. William Crowe, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., which starts at 10 a.m.  Media interested in attending should call (410) 293-2291.

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Rodney O. Anderson, deputy commanding general (support), Combined Joint Task Force-82 and deputy commanding general (support) 82d Airborne Division, will brief live from Afghanistan at 9 a.m. EDT, Oct. 31, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an operations update.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
