Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will host a full honor arrival ceremony this morning for the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan. See the advisory for details.

This evening Secretary Cohen will receive the Edmund S. Muskie Award for Distinguished Public Service at an event in Washington, D.C. See the advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington today. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

The Marine Corps will host briefing at 2 p.m. today on a survey of former residents of base housing at Camp Lejeune, N.C. See the advisory for details.

Secretary Cohen and his wife Janet Langhart Cohen will unveil a permanent Pentagon exhibit dedicated to the USO at 11 a.m. on Thursday. See the advisory for details.

The next Department of Defense news briefing will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The annual DoD maintenance symposium continues through Thursday in Charleston, S.C. See the news release for details.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.

ELIGIBLE UNIFORMED SERVICES RETIREES, SPOUSES, SURVIVORS TO GET EXPANDED HEALTH CARE BENEFITS Medicare-eligible uniformed services retirees, their spouses and survivors who are age 65 and over will be entitled to expanded health care benefits under legislation signed by President Clinton on Oct. 30.
