Today in the Department of Defense, Nov. 12-13, 2000

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are in Washington. There are no media or public events on their schedules.

On Monday, Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the DoD briefing room there will be a background briefing on Secretary Cohen's forthcoming trip to the Middle East.

The Naval War College's annual Professional Ethics Conference will be held Nov. 13-14 in Newport, R.I. The theme for this year's conference is "Traditional Military Virtues." Media interested in covering the conference may call (401) 841-2220.

The next regular Department of Defense news briefing will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the Pentagon briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.
