Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and his wife Janet Langhart Cohen unveil a permanent exhibit at the Pentagon dedicated to the USO today at 11 a.m. See the advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon will present Employer Support Freedom Awards to five corporations, all employers of members of the National Guard and Reserve, today at 10 a.m. in the Pentagon. See the advisory for details.

The Navy will hold the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Model Education Center at the Navy College Office at Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia Beach, Va. at 10:30 a.m. today. See the advisory for details.

Retired Army Gen. William W. Crouch and retired Navy Adm. Harold W. Gehman, co-chairs of the Cole Commission, will discuss their scope and charter at a special news briefing at 1:30 p.m. today in the Pentagon. See the advisory for details.

The regular Department of Defense news briefing will immediately follow the Cole Commission brief. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The annual DoD maintenance symposium ends today in Charleston, S.C. See the news release for details.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.

Cohen to address Joint Armed Forces Officers Wives Luncheon Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will address the Joint Armed Forces Officers' Wives Luncheon at 1 p.m. EST Friday, Nov. 3, 2000.

The event, to be held at the Bolling Air Force Base Officers Club, Washington, D.C., is open to the media.
