Today in the Department of Defense, Monday, November 02, 2009 Bookmark and Share



Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn have no public or media events on their schedules. 

There will be a static display of an M-ATV, the MRAP all terrain vehicle, at the Pentagon on Monday, Nov 2 from 10 a.m. EST to 2 p.m.  The display will be located between Pentagon Corridors 2 and 3, which is in the South Parking area of the Pentagon.  This event is open to the media.   

 

A U.S. Army full honor arrival ceremony in honor of secretary of the Army John M. McHugh will be held today at Conmy Hall, Fort Myer, Va., at 3:30 p.m.  To register, contact U.S. Army Military District of Washington Public Affairs at 202-685-4645 or via e-mail at Robin.Fulkerson@us.army.mil or Shaunteh.Kelly@jfhqncr.northcom.mil .  Media interested in covering this ceremony should report to Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, formerly Fort Myer's main entrance (Hatfield Gate), NLT 2:30 p.m.  Be advised that heightened security measures require all vehicles to be searched upon entry to the installation.  Delays may be encountered, so be sure to add at least 15 minutes to your travel time.  Media will be escorted to a designated parking area near Conmy Hall.  Parking is available for satellite trucks in the Caisson parking lot.  Satellite trucks should arrive at the Hatfield Gate no later than 2:30 p.m.  Point of contact for satellite trucks is Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Public Affairs at 703-696-5401/2976.  Satellite trucks must be in place no later than 3:15 p.m.
