Today in the Department of Defense, Wednesday, November 02, 2011 Bookmark and Share



Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta and Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter have no public or media events on their schedules. 

Air Force Gen. Norton Schwartz, Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert, and Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos will provide testimony at 10 a.m. EDT to the House Armed Services Committee at the Rayburn House Office Building 2118, U.S. Capitol, Washington, D.C.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, Robert Scher will brief the media at 3:30 p.m. EDT in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973) on the recently submitted DoD report to Congress on India.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

National Guard (in Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of November 1, 2011

            This week the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard announced a decrease in activated reservists, while the Air Force announced an increase. The net collective result is 112 fewer reservists activated than last week.
