Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is in Washington today. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon will give keynote address at a Center for Naval Analyses forum at 9:15 a.m. today in Arlington, Va. See the advisory or the forum web page for details. [link no longer available]

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Pentagon Tour Theater will be conducted today at 2:30 p.m. in the Pentagon across from room 3C1054. See the advisory for details.

The next DoD news briefing is schedule for tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

Secretary and Mrs. Cohen will host a dinner tomorrow evening in California to honor Jack Valenti, president of the Motion Picture Association of America. See the advisory for details.

The annual DoD Small Business Training Conference ends today in San Diego, Calif.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.

WWII MARINE RAIDERS IDENTIFIED, RETURNING HOME The remains of 19 World War II Marine Raiders killed in action on Butaritari Island (Makin Atoll) and listed as missing in action since August 1942 were recently identified, and will be returned to their families for burial.
