Today in the Department of Defense, Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are traveling today. Secretary and Mrs. Cohen will host a dinner this evening in California to honor Jack Valenti, president of the Motion Picture Association of America. See the advisory for details.

The regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

The Center for Naval Analyses conference on "National Security in the 21st Century: Defense Issues for the New Administration" ends today in Arlington, Va. See the conference web site for details. [link no longer available]

The Defense Manufacturing Conference 2000, "Foundation for Global Security," ends today in Tampa, Fla.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.
