Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is traveling.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.

Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will provide Veterans Day remarks at the University Club, 1135 16th St. NW, Washington D.C. at 7:30 p.m. Media interested in attending the event please contact Mr. Mike Sunshine or Mr. Rick Ecker at the Chairman's public affairs office, (703)697-4272 (media are asked to not contact the University Club). Media are asked to be at the event by 7:15. Television media logistics are limited (Camera space and shot angle constraints, no risers or malt box on site).

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Robert E. Livingston, Jr., Commander, Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix VI will brief live from Afghanistan at 9:30 a.m. EDT, Nov. 9, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update on the training and equipping of Afghan national security forces.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
