Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is in California. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is visiting the Russian Federation. See the advisory for details.

A regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon , assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

Korean War veterans and present day servicemembers and dignitaries will mark the 50th anniversary of the Chosin Reservoir campaign with events today in Washington, D.C. See the news release for details.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.
