Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn have no public or media events on their schedules.

 

David Sedney, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia, will brief live from the Pentagon at 1:30 p.m. EST, Dec. 17, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973, to discuss DoD policy issues on Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

 

Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James N. Miller Jr. and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Strategic Affairs Michael Nacht will speak on "Deterring Cyberattacks:  Informing Strategies and Developing Options for U.S. Policy" at 4 and 4:45 p.m. EST, respectively, at the Keck Center, 500 5th St NW, Washington, D.C., at the National Academies Forum.  If you would like to attend the sessions of this meeting that are open to the public or need more information please contact Herb Lin at 202-334-3191 or email hlin@nas.edu.
