Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England have no public or media events on their schedules.

Army Col. Paul E. Funk, commander of the 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division will brief live from Iraq at 9 a.m. EST, Dec. 20, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update on ongoing security operations in Iraq.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

The Department of Defense Task Force on the Future of Military Health Care will brief key findings and recommendations from their latest report at 11 a.m. EST, Dec. 20, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.            Briefers are:  Gen. John D. W. Corley, vice chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.  Gail R. Wilensky, PhD., elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies and its governing council.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
