Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen has no media or public events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington for the weekend. There are no media or public events on his schedule.

On New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2000, the U.S. Naval Observatory will celebrate the beginning of the 21st Century and the Third Millennium under the stars with an Open House featuring music, displays, telescopic viewing of celestial objects, and a concluding celebration at the stroke of midnight. The next regular DoD news briefing will be Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.
