Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is out of town, the Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz is in Washington. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, Deputy Director of Operations and Mr. Daniel Senor, Senior Advisor, will conduct a Coalition Provisional Authority briefing from Baghdad at 9:00 a.m. EST. This event can be viewed in the Press Briefing Room.

The Department of Defense will conduct a background briefing today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD Briefing Studio. DoD officials will brief and take questions on today’s announcements of the appointing authority for military commissions, legal advisor to the appointing authority, review panel members and Military Commission Instruction No. 9. Media representatives who do not have a Pentagon building pass and wish to cover this briefing should arrive at the Pentagon's North Parking Entrance by 12:45 p.m. for an escort.
