Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is traveling in Europe. See the briefing for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

A prototype of a marketing-enhanced recruiting station will be opened in a ceremony this morning at 9 a.m. at the Potomac Mills mall in Prince William, Va. See the advisory for details.

A regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.

The Army Worldwide Environmental and Energy Conference begins today and continues through Dec. 7 in Atlanta, Ga. For details see the Army news release (no longer available) and the conference web site (no longer available).

Army Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is traveling in Europe through Dec. 6. See the advisory for details.

The Combined Federal Campaign is now in progress throughout the Department of Defense.
