Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta and Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter have no public or media events on their schedules.

Director of the International Security Assistance Force’s Force Reintegration Cell Maj. Gen. David Hook (Royal Marines) will brief the media live from Afghanistan at 10:30 a.m. EST in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973) to provide an update on governance and reconstruction. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Press Secretary) George Little and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Media Operations) Capt. John Kirby will conduct a press briefing at 2 p.m. EST in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973).  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

Lieutenant General Darrel D. Jones, Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services will conduct a media availability to address Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations (AFMAO) at Dover AFB, Del.   AFMAO is the point of entry for US service members who are killed or die overseas.  The event will take place at 4 p.m. today in the OSD Press Briefing Room 2E973.
