Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn have no public or media events on their schedules. 

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen will speak at the National Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. EST at the Washington Hilton Hotel, 1919 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington DC. Media contact is Mark Spengler, 808-960-6361, mspengler@earthlink.net .

Army Lt. Gen. Benjamin R. Mixon, U.S. Army Pacific Commander (USARPAC), will brief live from Thailand at 9:30 a.m. EST, Feb. 4, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973, to provide an update on USARPAC operations and Cobra Gold 10, one of the largest multi-lateral exercises in the world.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

Stephen Stanley and Director, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation Christine Fox testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on the 2009 Quadrennial Defense Review at 10 a.m. EST  in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building. 

 

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia Robert Scher testifies at a hearing of the U.S. – China Economic and Security Review Commission on China’s Activities in Southeast Asia and the Implications for U.S. Interests at 9:30 a.m. EST in room 562 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

 

Commanding General Maj. Gen. John Campbell, 101st Airborne Division and Commander, Joint Warfighting Center Maj. Gen. Stephen Layfield, will brief live from Ft. Campbell, Ky., at 11 a.m. EST, Feb. 4, 2010, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973, to discuss the on-going Unified Endeavor 10-1 Mission Rehearsal Exercise.  The exercise, which ends Friday, Feb. 5, is designed to train the headquarters forces for their deployment to Afghanistan this year as Combined Joint Task Force-101.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.
