Today in the Department of Defense, Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are in Washington today. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

The regular DoD news briefing will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

A ceremony to commemorate African American History Month will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the Pentagon auditorium, room 5A1070. Host will be Charles L. Cragin, acting under secretary of Defense for personnel and readiness. Guest speaker will be Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Clifford L. Stanley, deputy commander general of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command.
