Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Pakistan’s Minister of Defense Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar to the Pentagon today at 8:30 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon. 

Secretary Gates and Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Navy Adm. Mike Mullen will conduct a press briefing at 9:30 a.m. EDT, in the DoD Briefing Room, 2E973.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.  

Secretary Gates testifies at a hearing of the Senate Appropriations Committee on the fiscal 2010 war supplemental at 2 p.m. EDT in room S 127, The Capitol. 

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.   

Commander, U.S. Pacific Command Navy Adm. Robert F. Willard and Commander, U.S. Forces Korea Army Gen. Walter L. "Skip" Sharp testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on the fiscal 2011 national defense authorization budget requests from the U.S. Pacific Command and U.S. Forces Korea at 10 a.m. EDT in room 2118, Rayburn House Office Building.  

Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Army Lt. Gen. William Phillips and Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration Marine Corps Lt. Gen. George J. Flynn testify at a hearing of the House Appropriations Committee on Army and Marine Corps ground equipment at 1:30 p.m. EDT in room H140, The Capitol.

 

Commander, U.S. Pacific Command Navy Adm.
