Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn attend a memorial service for the late Congressman John Murtha at 11 a.m. EST at Statuary Hall, US Capitol.

Secretary of the U.S. Army John McHugh and Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Gen. George W. Casey testify at a hearing of the Senate Appropriations Committee on FY 2011 Army Budget at 9:30 a.m. EST in room 106 Dirksen Senate Office Building. 

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen will give a Landon Lecture at Kansas State University at 3:30 p.m. CST in the McCain Auditorium.  A media availability will follow.  Media contact is Jeff Morris, 785-532-1876, jbmorris@ksu.edu.

National Guard (in Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of March 2, 2010 This week the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard announced a decrease in activated reservists, while the Air Force announced an increase.   The net collective result is1,115 fewer reservists activated than last week.

2nd MEB Commander to Brief Live From Afghanistan Marine Brig. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson, commander of the 2 nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, will brief live from Afghanistan at 11 a.m. EST, March 4, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E973, to provide an update on Operation Moshtarak.
