Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta hosts an honor cordon to welcome Chile's Minister of National Defense Andres Allamand to the Pentagon today at 10:15 a.m. EST.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

 Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter has no public or media events on his schedule. 

Due to an unforeseen conflict, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey did not speak at the Joint Women's Leadership Symposium at the Gaylord, National Harbor, today as planned.  Director of the Joint Staff, Vice Adm. William Gortney, spoke on the chairman’s behalf.

 Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey at a reception at the Japanese Embassy, Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m. EST will express gratitude for the support given after the Great East Japan Earthquake and highlight reconstruction efforts.  Media must register with Toshiaki, Abe, 202-238-6764 or JCS Public Affairs, 703-697-4272.
