Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Lebanon’s Minister of Defense Elias Murr to the Pentagon today at 12:30 p.m. EST. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 11:55 a.m. EST for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.

Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness David S.C. Chu, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs William Winkenwerder and Chief of Staff U.S. Army Gen, Peter Schoomaker testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee at 10 a.m. EST in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building. 

Commander U.S. Strategic Command Gen. James Cartwright testifies at a hearing of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee (HASC) at 3 p.m. EST in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building.

Acting Under Secretary of Defense, Intelligence Robert Andrews testifies at a hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence at 10 a.m. EST in room H-405 U.S.Capitol.

Adm. Timothy Keating, Lt. Gen. Victor Renuart Jr. and Lt. Gen. Robert Van Antwerp appear at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee at 9:30 in room SH-216, Hart Senate Office Building.
