Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will attend the retirement ceremony of Adm. William J. Fallon aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-1) Pier 14, Naval Station Norfolk, VA.  Media interested in attending should contact (757) 444-3373.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.

Army Maj. Gen. Robert Cone, commanding general of Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan will conduct a news briefing at 9 a.m. EDT, Apr. 18, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update of ongoing security and training operations in Afghanistan.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
