Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will conduct a press conference at 10:45 a.m. EDT at Camp Lejeune, N.C.  Media interested in attending should contact the II MEF PA office at (910) 451-7200/5260. 

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.

Director, Army Aviation Brig. Gen. Walter Davis and Program Executive Officer, Aviation Brig. Gen. William Crosby testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on Army aircraft programs at 9 a.m. EDT in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building.

The Department of Defense will host a background briefing to discuss the process for the Quadrennial Defense Review and Nuclear Posture Review. A senior defense and military official will conduct the briefing today at 11:30 a.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973. The briefing is on background. No cameras will be allowed. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance (Press parking, Stop 1) only.   Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.   Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
