Today in the Department of Defense, April 7-9, 2001

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz are in Washington this weekend. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

Monday, April 9, is National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day. See the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office web page for details. [link no longer available]

The Navy in the Washington, D.C. area shifts to summer uniforms on Monday, April 9. See the Naval District Washington Uniforms page for details.

The next regular DoD news briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The Army's Division Capstone Exercise continues through April 14 at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif. See the exercise web site (no longer available) for details.
