EVENTS FOR MAY 18, 2000

The Secretary of Defense is in Washington today. Secretary Cohen and the Gen. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will co-host a full honors review at 10 a.m. today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Armed Forces Day. See the press advisory for more details.

The Deputy Secretary of Defense is in Washington today. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

The "Fantasy Career in Today's Military Contest" will be launched at 1:30 p.m. today in the Pentagon briefing studio, room 2E 781. See the press advisory for more details. The department's regular news briefing will immediately follow this event. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The department's Legislative Affairs Office maintains a separate Congressional Schedule of Events.
