Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen and Comptroller Robert Hale testify at a hearing of the House Appropriations Committee-Defense on FY10 budget at 12:30 p.m. EDT in room HVC 210.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn will host an honor cordon for the Minister of Defense of Brazil, Nelson Jobim, today at 10:30 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Terrace Parking Lot (Pentagon Circulator Shuttle Stop 1) Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

This week all the military services announced an increase.  The net collective result is 1,086 more reservists activated than last week.
