Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates has no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England hosts an honor cordon to welcome Albanian Minister of Defense Gazmend Oketa to the Pentagon today at 2 p.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

The Senate Armed Services Committee consider the nominations of Gen. David H. Petraeus for reappointment to the grade of general and to be Commander, United States Central Command and Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno for appointment to the grade of general and to be Commander, Multi-National Force-Iraq at 9:30 a.m. EDT in room SD-106, Dirksen Senate Office Building.
