Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld  hosts an honor cordon to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to the Pentagon today at 8 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance.  Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 7 a.m. for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Director for Regional Operations, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Brig. Gen. Carter Ham will conduct an operational update at 1:30 p.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.  Media without a Pentagon building pass interested in covering this event must have proof of press affiliation and two forms of photo identification and should be at the North Parking Entrance by 12:45 p.m.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort to the briefing.

Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense Paul McHale; Navy Adm. Timothy J. Keating, Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command; and Lt. Gen. Steven Blum, Chief, National Guard Bureau will participate in a press briefing with Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, Acting FEMA Director David Paulison and Under Secretary for Preparedness George Foresman concerning preparations for the 2006 hurricane season.  The press briefing will be at FEMA Headquarters/Holiday Inn Capitol, Columbia Room, 500 C Street, NW, Washington, DC at 2 p.m.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.
