Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is in Washington today. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz will speak tonight at a dinner in Washington hosted by the Business Executives for National Security in honor of Gen. Henry H. Shelton , chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. See the press advisory for details.

The regular DoD news briefing is scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The combined U.S., Australian and Canadian exercise Tandem Thrust begins today and continues through May 29 in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area of Australia. See the news release for details.

The NATO exercise Adventure Express/Dynamic Response 2001 continues through May 10 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Albania. See the NATO news release for details.
