Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta hosts an honor cordon to welcome Israel's President Shimon Peres to the Pentagon today at 5:45 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  There will be wire photo, TV, and print pool coverage of remarks at the top of the meeting.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Pedestrian Bridge only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta will deliver the keynote address at the 31st American Turkish Council Conference Dinner at 8 p.m. EDT at the Ritz Carlton, Washington, D.C.  Points of contacts are Carl Woog, Defense Department assistant press secretary at 703-697-7341 and Canan Buyukunsal, American-Turkish Council at 202-783-0483.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter has no public or media events on his schedules.

Secretary of the Army John McHugh delivers remarks and hosts a press briefing to celebrate the Army birthday at 10 a.m. EDT at Mount Vernon, Alexandria, Va.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz will speak at a breakfast as part of the Air Force Association Air Force Breakfast Program at 7 a.m. EDT at the Key Bridge Marriott, Arlington, Va.

Commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and Deputy Commander, U.S. Forces -- Afghanistan Army Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti will brief the media to provide an update on current operations live from Afghanistan at 11:30 a.m. EDT in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973).  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.
