Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England have no public or media events on their schedules.

Commander, Multi-National Security Transition Command—Iraq Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs will testify on the development of the Iraqi Security Forces at 9 a.m. EDT in 2118 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington. D.C.
 
The Armed Services Committee will hold hearings to examine the nominations of Vice Adm. Eric T. Olson, for appointment to the grade of admiral and to be commander, United States Special Operations Command, Thomas P. D’Agostino, to be under secretary for Nuclear Security, Department of Energy and administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, and Michael G. Vickers, to be an assistant secretary of defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict at 9:30 a.m. in 106 Dirksen, Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
